A 10-year-old boy lost his life trying to save his younger sister

A 10-year-old boy is being hailed as a hero after he died while saving his sister from a river in South Dakota. Ricky was with his father and siblings when two of them fell into the river.

According to the New York Post, Ricky Lee Sneve’s body was found Saturday night by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department.

The boy’s mother, Nicole Eufer, explains that Ricky was with his father, Chad Sneve, and his siblings when several of them fell into the Big Sioux River.

“A couple of brothers fell in the water,” Eufers told the Argus Leader. Dad joined two of them and Ricky joined in to rescue his sister Chevelle.”

Ricky was able to save his sister by pulling her to shore. But when his brothers and father returned they had noticed that Ricky was completely missing.

Ricky was the oldest of four siblings and has a stepbrother. Snove father of the young boy, describes his son as a generous soul willing to do anything for everyone. ”

“He was generous, kind and special in more ways than I can begin to explain. He was everything to me and touched everyone he encountered,” his father continued.

As Ricky’s mother explained that her son taught her to “love and appreciate life.” “He never ceased to amaze me,” said Eufers, his mother.

The family has set up a GoFundMe to cover Ricky’s funeral expenses and any other expenses related to his untimely death.
