Aiden Leos died in his booster seat as his mother drove him to kindergarten Friday morning.

Joanna Cloonan, was driving northbound in the carpool lane on the 55 Freeway when she was suddenly cut off by a white sedan, which she said had a female driver and a male passenger.

“As I started to pull away from them, I heard a very loud noise, and my son said, ‘Ow,’ and I had to pull over. That’s when he was shot. Said the boy’s mother through tears.

A single bullet went through the trunk of the car and hit the boy sitting in his car seat in the back.

“I stopped and pulled him out of the car and tried to put my hand over his wounds while I called 911. Because he was shedding a lot of blood,” the mother continued.

The last word to his mother was “Mommy, my tummy hurts.”

Aiden was rushed by ambulance to Children’s Hospital of Orange County, but was later pronounced dead.

“They took my son’s life. He was beautiful and kind and precious, and you killed him for no reason.” Said his mother.

“That was my baby. I never, ever thought pain like this could exist. He was really my world.” the mother concluded.

Witness speaks out

“My wife noticed a lady taking her son out and laying on the ground with her son in her arms,” said Reyes a witness to the case.

“They said Cloonan appeared to be in shock; she said she had overturned a car that cut her off, but when she moved to the right, the car followed her and someone opened fire.”
