The 28-year-old man arrived at the Forest Hills-71st station in Queens on Sunday, January 2. The man tried to jump at the entrance to avoid paying the $2.75 fare per ride, but was unsuccessful.

The individual was identified by New York authorities as Christopher De La Cruz, originally from Queens.

According to local media, the man was found by police officers in the turnstile area of the subway, who requested emergency medical attention.

The moment of the accident was captured by security cameras at the Forest Hills-71st station of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) in New York.

In the video, the man wearing a black sweatshirt and gray backpack tries to jump the first turnstile, but fails to do so and falls to his knees. In addition, his cell phone is ejected from the other side of the entrance.

Because of this, the subject moves to the third turnstile to be closer to his phone, and again tries to jump.

Once again, the individual gets stuck by the metal tubes as he jumps and lands on his feet on the side of the payment machines.

On the third attempt, the man moves away to gain momentum and again jumps over the New York City Subway turnstile with his hands resting on the metal machines. However, his feet were unable to avoid the tubes.

Although he tried several times to get his feet across the metal tubes, he was unable to do so and lost his balance. The subject fell forward, his neck hit the floor and broke immediately, and his feet were in the opposite direction.

Police and emergency services arrived at the New York City Subway, but De La Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene.
