Young people pay to be infected with Covid-19

Authorities in the Netherlands today called on young people “not to deliberately infect themselves with the coronavirus” after online groups were found offering this as a way to obtain a Covid-19 pass to recover from the virus and avoid vaccination.

“It is dangerous to intentionally infect yourself with the coronavirus. By doing so, you put yourself and others at risk. The Health and Youth Care Inspectorate is therefore outraged by initiatives that offer this possibility. The coronavirus is dangerous. You can become seriously ill,” stressed the Ministry of Health agency.

The warning comes after the appearance of organizations that “consciously want to spread the virus further”, says the inspection, alluding to online groups that offer the possibility and thus be considered as having recovered from Covid-19.

A web page started to offer a package for 33.50 euros, which includes a tube with a liquid to get infected with the coronavirus and a quick test to verify the contagion, according to the information quoted by local media.

People who have passed the disease can obtain the Covid pass and, as well as those who have been vaccinated, they can enter certain public places such as bars, restaurants, musical events and even non-essential stores.

Although still being debated in Parliament, the Dutch government plans to exclude unvaccinated people from the Covid pass within two weeks, even if they test negative, which will prevent their access to places with a high risk of infection.
