As anticipation builds for the upcoming wedding of Aesha Scott and her fiancé Scott Dobson, set for March 2026, fans of the Below Deck franchise are curious about a notable absence. During a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live, Aesha revealed that Captain Jason Chambers, who oversaw her during two seasons of Below Deck Down Under, will not attend the celebrations.
In her conversation with host Andy Cohen, Aesha stated, “No, Jason’s not coming.” She explained that a strict guest limit of 130 attendees has complicated the invitation process.
Deciding between friendships
Aesha’s decision to exclude Captain Chambers seems to arise from her long-standing relationship with another captain, Captain Sandy Yawn.
Aesha noted, “We can’t bring everyone with us and [Captain Sandy Yawn] has been in my life a lot longer, so Sandy trumped [Jason].” Additionally, Aesha expressed a desire to respect her fiancé’s feelings, indicating that Jason’s absence was also a matter of decorum.
She remarked, “I also don’t think it’s respectful because so many people would come up to me and be like, ‘Oh, we like Scott, but we really wish you were with Jason.’”
Aesha’s journey on Below Deck
Aesha began her television career on Below Deck Mediterranean, serving as a second stew under Captain Sandy during Seasons 4 and 5.
She later advanced to the role of chief stew in Below Deck Down Under for two seasons, both led by Captain Jason. Aesha made a return to Below Deck Mediterranean for the ninth and tenth seasons, which launched on the same night as her announcement.
Who else will attend?
Despite Jason’s absence, Aesha confirmed that several familiar faces from the Below Deck universe will attend her wedding. She listed, “Hannah [Ferrier] and her husband are coming, Anastasia [Surmava] and her husband, Sandy and Leah, and Nathan [Gallagher] and Gael [Cameron],” showcasing the support she has from her fellow cast members.
While Jason is not included in this gathering, Aesha also plans to invite many from the production team.
Effortless wedding planning
Aesha shared her surprisingly stress-free approach to wedding planning. “I don’t understand why people get so stressed, maybe because I’m a chief stew,” she reflected. For her, the process is straightforward: “You just sit down and email people and say, ‘Hey, can you do my wedding?’ And they just say yes or no.” Her vision for the event is refreshingly simple, focusing on her favorite foods: “I’m very simple. Noodles and curry, that’s all I need.”
As the wedding date approaches, excitement surrounds both Aesha and Scott, along with the dynamics within the Below Deck community. Fans are left speculating about how relationships will evolve post-wedding and how Captain Jason will react to being omitted from the guest list.
