American rapper Cardi B couldn’t help but be herself and wore a surreal accessorized dress to host the night. This isn’t the first time Cardi has shown she’s a fan of Schiaparelli’s eccentric surrealism.
Cardi B wore a surreal look to the American Music Awards
Naturally, Cardi B had to wear her master style move to host the 2021 American Music Awards at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. A surreal, custom design by Daniel Roseberry of Schiaparelli.
Her face may have been hidden under that golden mask, but the show-stopping energy was unmistakably Cardi.
The rapper’s accessories really elevated this all-black look to a true head-turner. She wore a sweetheart neckline dress with a long train that was relatively sleek and simple, but then amped it up with gold nail gloves, a dramatic black veil and a metallic opera mask.
Her large earrings were carved in the shape of glittering eyes, with bejeweled fingers dangling from them. (Body parts are a continuing theme in Roseberry’s collections; she’s made golden breastplates and briefcases adorned with golden ears.)

She casually wore the brand’s giant gold helmet through the streets of Paris during fashion week. But the bold and unique look felt right at home at the 2021 American Music Awards, further proving that she was the right woman to host.
