Two people were arrested after being accused of shooting in the parking lot of a Memphis Burger King following a confrontation over a spicy chicken sandwich.
Keonna Haliburton was involved in an argument over a spicy chicken sandwich while ordering food at the Burger King drive-thru, according to witnesses.
Moments after she and Tavarus McKinney left, they returned to the parking lot and began opening fire, injuring two people.
McKinney was identified in a lineup as the driver and Halliburton as the passenger. However, witnesses say both were seen shooting, according to police.
McKinney’s criminal history is extensive and includes nine cases and 10 warrants in Shelby County. He has been charged with violent crimes in the past, including aggravated assault, kidnapping and domestic assault, according to News Today.
News of the spicy chicken sandwich shooting comes a day after President Biden announced his plan to curb gun violence in the United States.
Biden’s plan focuses on “assault weapons,” which are not typically used in most gun-related crimes.
