Google threatens to fire employees who are not vaccinated

Google has sent a clear message to its employees: those who are not vaccinated against the coronavirus will be fired.

Google threatens to fire employees who are not vaccinated

The U.S. technology giant has warned in an internal circular, accessed by CNBC, that those employees who have not been vaccinated will be put on forced leave and could eventually be fired if they fail to do so.

If they do not get immunized, they will be placed on forced leave

The deadline to present the vaccination document is January 18. Those who have not been inoculated against the coronavirus by that date will be placed on paid administrative leave for 30 days.

After that period, the company will place them on unpaid leave and, if the situation persists, will subsequently terminate their employment.

Google wants to maintain safety in the company at all costs. “We firmly believe that our vaccination requirements are one of the most important ways to maintain the safety of our workforce and the operation of our services,” said a spokesperson for the multinational.

That is why they will do everything necessary to ensure that the entire workforce is immunized against the coronavirus. “We are committed to doing everything we can to help our employees get vaccinated,” he said.

Biden Executive Order

The multinational company said it has begun implementing its vaccination policy first in the United States and will expand it to other countries as the respective legislations require.

For the time being, this policy will not be applied in Google’s offices in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa), since in the United States the company is complying with President Biden’s Executive Order requiring Covid-19 vaccination for employees of federal contractors.
