Introducing Canada’s Snowboard Team for the 2026 Winter Olympics: Meet the Athletes!

As the countdown to the 2026 Winter Olympics progresses, Canada has announced its roster for the snowboard slopestyle and big air events. This team, which includes experienced competitors and emerging talents, is preparing to demonstrate their skills on the international stage in Italy.

Leading the Canadian contingent are renowned athletes Mark McMorris and Laurie Blouin. Both bring extensive experience and competitive spirit to the team, joined by four debutantes eager to make their mark at this prestigious event.

Veteran leadership on the team

Mark McMorris, from Regina, is set for his fourth Olympic appearance, an impressive milestone that highlights his enduring talent. At 32, McMorris has distinguished himself in the sport, having secured bronze medals at the last three Winter Games in the men’s slopestyle category.

McMorris expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “It’s incredibly special to be representing Canada at my fourth Olympic Winter Games. Every time I get the chance to wear the maple leaf on the Olympic stage, it holds immense significance for me.” He values his role as a veteran, mentoring younger team members and leading by example both on and off the slopes.

Laurie Blouin’s impressive journey

Joining McMorris, Laurie Blouin is making her mark in the Olympic circuit. The 29-year-old from Quebec City is preparing for her third Olympic outing. Blouin has already achieved success, securing a silver medal in the women’s slopestyle at the 2018 Olympics, and currently ranks seventh in the World Snowboard points standings.

New talent ready to shine

The Canadian snowboard team is not only relying on its seasoned athletes but also showcases a strong lineup of newcomers. Among them are Eli Bouchard, Francis Jobin, Juliette Pelchat, and Cameron Spalding. These athletes are set to make their Olympic debuts, bringing fresh energy and ambition to the competition.

Cameron Spalding, a 20-year-old from Havelock, Ontario, has already gained recognition in the sport by winning the FIS Crystal Globe for snowboard slopestyle in the 2026-25 season, following victories at two World Cup events. He currently ranks seventh in the World Snowboard points list, demonstrating his readiness for high-level competition.

The absence of a key contender

Despite the excitement surrounding the team, there is a significant absence. Reigning slopestyle world champion Liam Brearley, who had pre-qualified for the Canadian Olympic team due to his outstanding performance in 2026, will miss the event due to an injury that required surgery. His absence will be felt, but his teammates remain determined to carry the competitive spirit forward.

With a combination of veteran expertise and youthful enthusiasm, Canada’s snowboard team is poised to captivate fans in Italy. Each athlete is committed to delivering their best performances, representing their country with pride and passion. As they prepare to face the world, anticipation for the upcoming events continues to grow.
