The Israeli military said the attack on the group was carried out after Hamas incendiary balloons began crossing the border into its territory.

No one was killed or injured, but the incident threatens to suspend the ceasefire, reached after 11 days of bloody shelling between the two sides.

These clashes are marking the largest escalation of attacks since 2014 leaving 256 Palestinians dead, including 66 children, according to Gaza authorities.

At least 12 people have also lost their lives in Israel.

Palestinians in Gaza launched the balloons that caused at least 20 fires in southern Israel in response to a march by hundreds of Israeli ultra-nationalists through East Jerusalem, where protesters celebrated the 1967 takeover of the city.

Palestinians considered the parade – at which some Israelis uttered phrases such as “death in Arabic,” and “let your people burn” – a provocation and an act of “TROCK.” Hamas, the group that controls Gaza called on the people there to “resist” in March.

Israel considers the Islamic militant group Hamas, which rules Gaza although its authority is not internationally recognized, to be in fact a terrorist organization that seeks its destruction.
