James Nesbitt lied during interviews to hide his secret role in Line of Duty

Line of Duty is as well known for its twists and turns as it is for its famous “dirty cops” tagline, and last night’s episode certainly delivered on that goal.

Nesbitt acted a little off-screen when he told The Radio Times that he was upset that he had never been invited to star in the hit series.

Nesbitt said, “I said, ‘Come on, Jed when are we going to get a chance to work together?

“Even though Line of Duty had been shot here for years, I was never considered for it, which has always bothered me a little bit.”

Mercurio, Nesbitt and other cast and crew members managed to keep everything under wraps until it appeared on screen last night.

Mercurio told The Sun, “It was easier to keep the secret by hatching the plot between the two of us rather than involving a proper casting process.”

He added: “I think people thought Jimmy was filming an advert. I told passersby that he was modeling for a catalog.

Nesbitt also said, “I had a lot of fun saying how Jed has snubbed me for Line Of Duty.”

But if you’re expecting more plot details from Nesbitt now that the cat’s out of the bag, I’ve got bad news.

But as always with Line Of Duty, there will be a few surprises along the way.
