London Knights celebrate victory over Oshawa Generals
The London Knights triumph over the Oshawa Generals in a thrilling Game 3 of the OHL Championship.

Knights’ strong start sets the tone

The London Knights entered Game 3 of the OHL Championship series with a commanding 5-1 lead at the start of the third period, showcasing their offensive prowess early on. Kasper Halttunen emerged as a standout player, netting a hat trick and solidifying his position as a key player for the Knights.

Easton Cowan also contributed significantly, scoring two goals and providing an assist, further demonstrating the Knights’ depth in talent.

Despite the strong start, the Knights faced a fierce comeback from the Oshawa Generals. The Generals, eager to capitalize on their home ice advantage, came out aggressively, firing the first six shots of the game.

However, it was the Knights who struck first, with Cowan’s impressive backhand shot marking his 90th career playoff point, making him the franchise leader in playoff scoring.

Generals rally but fall short

The Generals, undeterred by the Knights’ early lead, mounted a spirited comeback in the third period.

Within a span of just over five minutes, they scored three goals, bringing the score to a nail-biting 5-4. Players like Luca D’Amato, Colby Barlow, and Luke Torrance played pivotal roles in this resurgence, showcasing the Generals’ resilience and determination.

As the clock wound down, the Generals continued to press for an equalizer, but the Knights’ defense held firm. A crucial play by Sam O’Reilly, who flipped the puck to Jesse Nurmi, resulted in a goal that extended the Knights’ lead to 6-4.

The Generals managed to score once more, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Knights’ advantage.

Record-breaking performances highlight the night

Easton Cowan’s performance in Game 3 was historic, as he surpassed Robbie Schremp to become the Knights’ all-time playoff points leader with 92 career points.

His impressive stats this postseason, including 12 goals and 23 assists, place him second overall in OHL playoff scoring. Cowan’s five-point game in the previous match earned him the title of OHL Player of the Week, further solidifying his status as a rising star in the league.

As the series continues, the Knights will look to maintain their momentum in Game 4, scheduled for March 13 at the Tribute Communities Centre. With the series now at 2-1 in favor of the Knights, fans can expect another thrilling matchup as both teams vie for the championship title.
