Authorities say a man attacking his girlfriend was punched in the face and crushed by a woman at a bowling alley in West Ashley.

The Charleston Police Department is charging the 58-year-old Pano Dupree, who is a Charleston assault and battery attorney.

His arrest stems from an investigation of Ashley Railroad at 1568 Sam Rittenberg Blvd.
March 19, when officers reacted to a report of an assault.

They said, two witnesses said Dupree approached his girlfriend and began arguing with her.

At that point, a police report suggests that an unknown female had seen what was happening, ran toward the suspect and punched him in the face and knocked him to the ground.

Officers located the victim and she confessed that DuPree began arguing with her, while the suspect put his arms around her neck and began pulling her hair.

The report states that after the suspect was struck in the face, he fell to the ground, as he was still holding the victim’s hair, and pulled a large amount of hair out of her head.

Officers reported seeing the suspect lying on the ground talking to fellow bowlers.

He was then transported by emergency medical services to Roper St. Joseph’s Hospital.
