At barely a year old, baby Aaron Gilbert was doomed to suffer unimaginable cruelty from those close to him. A man tortured him for four weeks until he was murdered.

Although his own mother managed to provide for his basic needs, she lacked the moral fortitude and maternal love that would have protected her son.

She left her baby in the hands of his abuser for an entire month before he finally succumbed to the horrific torture he routinely endured.

Little Aaron’s heartbreaking abuse began immediately after his first birthday in Swansea, Wales. Unfortunately, his face was anything but comforting. The drug-addicted Lloyd soon began inflicting heinous acts on Aaron.

Lloyd would rage and take his anger out on the helpless baby. He had grabbed Aaron by the ears and swung him by the ankles “like someone swings a cat by the tail.”

He had pulled a blanket over his head as if to smother him and had blown marijuana smoke in the child’s face. He even went so far as to bite Aaron’s cheek with great force. His injuries became so severe that his face began to deform.

A neighbor compared the boy’s appearance to that of the Elephant Man. Most disturbingly, Lewis knew that Lloyd was abusing his son, but continued to leave the boy with his abusive boyfriend so he could go shopping.

After four weeks of allowing her lover to torture her infant son, Lewis returned to leaving her baby with Lloyd to run errands.

In the last 24 hours of Aaron’s life, Lloyd shook the baby in a fit of rage and slammed his head against the wall. Pathologists discovered a severe brain injury, as well as about 50 external injuries to the child’s body.

Both Lewis and Lloyd were arrested and charged with Aaron’s horrible death.

Lloyd attempted to appeal to the judge in hopes of overturning or reducing his conviction. The judge rejected the appeal and upheld the sentence. However, Lloyd would soon be released from prison, but not in the way he had hoped.

Shortly after his body was discovered, the Prison Service confirmed that Lloyd had died while serving his sentence.

Of course, this is not an uncommon outcome for child molesters and murderers. In fact, offenders convicted of harming children are often subjected to violence by other prisoners. So Lloyd got what he deserved.
