Despite her son’s injuries, school officials never called an ambulance to treat him after the attack.
Instead, they took him home, mutated and bloodied.
The teenager and his mother, who says she is angry about the situation, especially since the entire attack was caught on video.
The video, which was recorded with the cell phone of one of the ten other students who recorded this attack, shows Mauricio Brown, 17, being attacked by another student at Westgate High School in the bathroom.
After assaulting Mauricio, the students left him unconscious on the bathroom floor.
“He goes to one of the teachers, sees he’s bleeding and they took him to the assistant principal. They had someone look at him,” said Mauricio’s mother, Yamile Corrales.
Mauricio’s mother says, the assistant principal said his injuries were not serious and offered to drive him home.
“He came home and could barely speak. he was mumbling and slurring words. ” said his mother
While Mauricio recovered at home and only drank fluids and communicated for six weeks through short messages, his mother says his assailant only received “a 3-day suspension.”
“He was assaulted.
He’s severely injured. He’s going to drink through a straw for the next six weeks. His mouth is wired shut,” his mother continued.
