The parents of the little boy: Clayton Osteen and Victoria Pacheco, both officers of St. Lucie County, Florida chose to take their own lives within days of each other.

This was reported by Sheriff Ken Mascara. It was on New Year’s Eve when he received a call about a suicide attempt, and officers under his command revealed to him that the person who attempted to take his own life was Osteen, a retired U.S.

Marine, who was off duty.

Victoria, mother of little Jayce, committed suicide after the death of her husband Osteen.

Mascara said, “Words cannot express the tremendous loss we all feel after losing these two members of the Sheriff’s Office family.”

The factors and causes that led the pair to make the decision to take their own lives are not yet known and they have remained tight-lipped about the details of the events, Sheriff Mascara stated that deputies often deal with stress and are human.

The Sheriff’s Office opened a donation drive for Jayce’s care and upbringing, with the proceeds going directly to the month-old toddler.

Family and friends of the couple have been sharing memories and photos of the two on social media.
