Officers from Operation Raptor, which pursues drug gangs in the county, were on patrol in Colchester (Essex, UK) when they spotted four people approaching a car.

Following what appeared to be a drug deal between the two parties, the officers stopped the car and arrested three occupants. The investigation also discovered that he was linked to a London-based gang.

The 29-year-old, originally from Lower Clapton, admitted possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin at Chelmsford Crown Court on Friday (July 9) and was jailed for three years.

PC Andy Sumner said Meade now finds himself in a vulnerable position.

He said, “Meade will now spend months in prison and faces the risk of becoming indebted to the criminals he worked for for the drugs they lost when he was arrested.”

“This is a dangerous cycle that young people attracted to the drug trade do not see when gangs flaunt cash and make music videos glorifying the grim reality of their lifestyle.”

“Being beholden to gangs results in violence and heavy beatings, intimidation and pressure to commit more crime, which can be linked to more violence and guns.”

“If you, or someone you know, is being exploited or forced to sell drugs, there is help available to you.”

Earlier this year, a man tried to swallow drug wrappers after police pulled him over.
