Two police officers on Monday morning shot dead a man who threatening them with a long knife at the Paris Nord station, whose intentions are being investigated, authorities said.

The events occurred around 7.00 am (6.00 GMT) in the station with more traffic in France when the suspect went “threatening” with a knife with a blade 35 centimeters long against the agents, told Efe a spokeswoman for the Prefecture of Police.

The police officers used their service weapons and none of them was injured, said the spokeswoman, who said she had no information on the condition of the assailant.

On his Twitter account, French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said that by resorting to their weapons, the officers ruled out any danger “for themselves and for travelers.”
