At the Kashif Iqbal ThalassemiaCare Centre (KITCC), our mission is to uplift the lives of individuals affected by thalassemia. Established with a vision of creating a thalassemia-free Pakistan, our center provides essential medical services and emotional support to patients and their families. We believe that every contribution can spark hope, and with the assistance of generous donors, we can alleviate the suffering of many.

Thalassemia is a serious hereditary blood disorder requiring continuous treatment, including regular blood transfusions. At KITCC, we recognize the critical importance of blood donation, as a single donor can potentially save the lives of up to three patients. Therefore, we encourage everyone to consider getting tested and donating blood to support those in need.

Comprehensive services provided by KITCC

We are proud to serve over 800 registered thalassemia major patients by offering a variety of essential services. Our center is equipped with advanced tools for proper screening and treatment, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care. Our holistic approach addresses not only the medical needs but also the emotional well-being of our patients.

Blood donation and its impact

Regular blood transfusions are vital for thalassemia patients, with each individual typically requiring transfusions twice a month. Our well-maintained blood bank is a lifeline for these patients, providing safe and reliable blood products. On average, we facilitate more than 50 transfusions each day, demonstrating the critical role of community support in our mission.

Support and community involvement

At KITCC, we believe that community involvement is key to our success. Through various initiatives, we encourage individuals to contribute in ways that can significantly impact the lives of thalassemia patients. Your Zakat, or charitable donations, play a crucial role in helping those who cannot afford their treatment. We ensure that every contribution goes directly to supporting our patients’ medical needs.

Understanding the costs of treatment

The financial burden of thalassemia treatment can be overwhelming for many families. Monthly treatment costs vary based on the patient’s age and stage of the disease. For instance, treatment for children aged 6 months to 2.5 years may range from 3,000 to 6,000 PKR, while adolescents aged 16 to 35 years may require between 30,000 to 40,000 PKR monthly. By providing transparent information about these costs, we aim to assist families in navigating the financial aspects of care.

Psycho-social support at KITCC

In addition to medical care, we prioritize the psychological and emotional well-being of our patients through our Psycho-Social Well-Being House (PSWH). This initiative focuses on social-emotional learning and mindfulness, helping thalassemia patients cope with their condition through wellness programs. By fostering a supportive environment, we aim to enhance the overall quality of life for those affected by this condition.

We invite individuals to join our volunteer club, where they can actively participate in making a difference in the lives of thalassemia patients. Volunteering allows you to connect with our community, provide comfort, and share joy with those who need it most. Together, we can create a brighter future for thalassemia patients.

The Kashif Iqbal ThalassemiaCare Centre is committed to transforming lives through comprehensive care, community support, and education about thalassemia. Your involvement—whether through donations, blood donations, or volunteering—can help us achieve our goal of a thalassemia-free Pakistan. Let’s work together to build a better tomorrow for our patients.
