WhatsApp to be blocked on millions of phones next week

WhatsApp will stop working on more than 50 phone models next week and users will not be able to use the messaging app.

Users are advised to check if their device will be affected with 53 models to be blocked from Monday, November 1.

For some, the problem will be temporary and their phone will require an update, while WhatsApp will permanently stop working on many other devices.

This will affect Android and Apple phone users with a requirement to update their operating systems to ensure they are not blocked from accessing the app.

Apple users must be running iOS 10 or higher, while Android devices must have at least Android 4.1 to meet WhatsApp’s compatibility requirements.

To find out what operating system your phone is running on, check your phone’s settings menu. It should appear in the software information under the “About Phone” tab.
