The FBI has disrupted a plot involving explosive drones targeting the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House and the FIFA World Cup matches in the United States.

Explosive Drone Plot Disrupted by FBI During White House UFC Event

The FBI has successfully thwarted a drone attack plot targeting the UFC Freedom 250 event held on the South Lawn of the White House on June 14, 2026. The event, which coincided with President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday, saw approximately 4,300 attendees, including active-duty service members and international fighters.

The plot involved explosive-laden drones designed to hit buildings near the event, sparking a mass evacuation and creating an opportunity for a secondary attack. The FBI, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, conducted a multi-state operation to disrupt the plan, resulting in the arrest of five individuals.

Counter-Drone Measures for FIFA World Cup

In light of the recent threat, Andrew Giuliani, head of the White House World Cup Task Forceannounced that all 78 FIFA World Cup matches scheduled in the United States will be protected by counter-drone technology. This measure aims to prevent any potential drone-related incidents during the global sporting event.

Giuliani emphasized that the counter-drone capabilities include jamming drones to stop their movement and bring them down from the sky. The task force has been working since last year to educate local police departments about the drone threat and has recently enacted legislation allowing these departments to mitigate drone threats effectively.

Details of the Thwarted Plot

The FBI became aware of the plot on June 10, three days before the UFC event. The suspects allegedly discussed preoperational plans in Signal chats and traveled to Fredericksburg, Virginia, on June 12 or 13. The plot involved a coordinated attack, with a second wave targeting a security checkpoint.

One of the suspects, Tycen Propera 19-year-old from Ohio, was charged with conspiring against the United States, attempted murder of a U.S. officer, and firearms charges. Proper’s parents raised concerns about his recent actions, leading to a police visit to his home. Investigators found that Proper had acquired camping gear, firearms, and ammunition, using money he had received for graduation.

Proper allegedly admitted to planning a coordinated attack at the UFC event and expressed intentions to meet with other members of the group in Fredericksburg. The group’s discussions included targeting specific politicians and discussing potential targets such as power grids.

Law Enforcement Response

FBI Director Kash Patel praised the rapid action of the FBI and its partners in disrupting the plot. The law enforcement response involved a coordinated effort across multiple states, highlighting the effectiveness of inter-agency collaboration.

The FBI has also seized a combined 35 recreational drones near World Cup venues in Miami and Atlanta, demonstrating the ongoing vigilance against potential drone threats. Andrew Giuliani, son of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, credited President Trump for implementing the necessary measures to counter drone threats.

The FBI’s successful operation to thwart the drone attack plot underscores the importance of robust security measures during high-profile events. As the FIFA World Cup approaches, the implementation of counter-drone technology will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of spectators and participants alike.
