A girl born with kidney disease has been lucky enough to have a donor match within her family, but the most blessed thing about the case is that the person was her father.

The bond between parents and children is undeniable. That bond became even stronger for a 4-year-old boy who desperately needed a kidney.

It turns out her father was the perfect match. Paisley Rae, 4, and her father Mitch Brown are best friends.

The two have shared many special moments together, but none as special as the kidney transplant that saved Paisley’s life in May.

“Her father’s kidney was perfect for her. It was amazing for everyone, not only for our family, but also for her team, who kept saying she was doing great,” said Kaylee Brown, Paisley’s mother.

Paisley is no stranger to hospitals, either. “Basically, she was born with end-stage renal disease,” Brown says. “We started dialysis at three days old.”

Paisley’s family said her best chance of survival would ultimately be a kidney transplant.

“When she was old enough, we tested her and Dad and I started her first,” Brown said, “Dad was her perfect match.”

Paisley’s second chance at life came at the hand of her father, Mitch. Her father said his purpose was to be the perfect match to save his daughter’s life.

On May 21, 2021, Pasley received her kidney. “It was overwhelming how happy and blessed we were that he was her match. Not everyone is lucky enough to have a donor match in their family, or even a close friend or family member,” Brown said.

Paisley’s family said the timing couldn’t be better. Brown is expecting her second child this month. As for Paisley, she enjoys a life without dialysis.
