Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet announced Wednesday that they have separated after 16 years together and 4 years of marriage.

In an Instagram post somewhere between spiritual and romantic, Momoa noted that his family is “no exception” to the “transformative times” they are living in right now and detailed that even though their paths in marriage will separate, their love will “continue and evolve.”
“We set each other free to be what we are learning to become,” he said.

Momoa and Bonet met in 2005, married in 2017 and have two children together.
Bonet had previously been married to musician Lenny Kravitz and with him she had a daughter, also actress Zoë Kravitz.
Momoa rose to fame for the series “Game of Thrones” (2011-2019) and in recent years has played Aquaman in Warner Bros. films about DC Comics.

The couple was introduced by mutual friends one night in 2005 at a jazz club in New York City. In several statements, the actor has claimed that he was platonically in love with Lisa Bonet since he first saw her during the 1980s on The Cosby Show, when he was just eight years old.
“I can’t say we were “full-on” from the first moment we saw each other, but we’ve been together ever since,” Momoa stated in an interview in 2018.
