Her moonlight-dark skin has earned her the nickname ‘Queen of Darkness’ and it just goes to show that beauty comes in all shades.

Her dark skin helped her give birth to a thriving modeling career with a net worth of $4 million.

Gatwech was born in Ethiopia to South Sudanese parents who were forced to constantly move to different places as refugees due to the conflict in the country. When she immigrated to the United States to Buffalo, New York, she had to adapt to a new culture that came with its challenges.

At only 27 years old, Sudanese model Nyakim Gatwech, has made her way on various catwalks thanks to her beauty and spectacular skin color, same that has led her to be known as ‘the queen of darkness’.

Gatwetch began her modeling career after participating in a runway show at St.

Cloud State University and since then she has not stopped growing in modeling, putting aside the prejudices she had to bear during her childhood when she was teased by other children because of her skin color.

Denying the option offered to her to lighten her skin tone, Nyakim proudly wears her skin tone, regardless of the criticism she still receives from some.

  1. I have to admire her for what she has done; however, growing up in the South was not good, certain things were taught by parents or we learned from their conversations and actions, then I thought, this is not me /not now. God created us all and different because for whatever reason only He knows. In church the first song we learned was: Red, Yellow, Black and White, they are precious in His sight. So, I guess we have to re-learn or put some traditions and sayings in the garbage can.
