Joe Amabile, a familiar face from The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise has shared some unexpected news with his fans. The 40-year-old reality star took to Instagram on Monday to reveal that he has been diagnosed with an early-stage brain tumor and will soon undergo surgery to remove it.

The news came as a shock to Amabile, who is known for his cheerful personality and memorable appearances on reality TV. In a heartfelt video, he opened up about the recent medical developments, providing a glimpse into his health journey and the steps he’s taking to address the situation.

An Unexpected Discovery

Amabile’s health journey began with a full-body MRI scan, which led to the discovery of a lesion in his brain. This finding prompted further investigation, including a brain MRI, which confirmed the presence of a blueberry-size lesion that appeared to be a glioma a type of tumor that originates in the brain or spinal cord.

In his Instagram video, Amabile shared, “So a little medical update… they ended up finding a lesion in my brain so then I had to go get a brain MRI. There was a blueberry-size lesion in my brain that looks to be a glioma which is a tumor.” He went on to explain that he would need to undergo brain surgery in two weeks to remove the tumor and have it tested.

Understanding Gliomas

A glioma is a type of tumor that starts in the glial cells of the brain or spinal cord. These cells normally support and protect the nerve cells, but when they grow abnormally, they can form a mass called a tumor. According to the Mayo Clinic gliomas can be either non-cancerous or cancerous, and their symptoms can vary depending on their location, size, and growth rate.

Common symptoms of gliomas include headachesnauseavomitingconfusionmemory losspersonality changesvision problemsspeech difficulties and seizures. Gliomas are most commonly diagnosed in adults between the ages of 45 and 65, although certain types can also affect children and young adults.

In the caption of his Instagram video, he wrote, “This past month has been a lot of ups and downs to say the least. After multiple scans and MRIs I have what looks to be an early stage brain tumor. In two weeks I’ll be undergoing a craniotomy to have it removed – yeah brain surgery.”

Despite the challenging news, Amabile has been focusing on staying positive and grateful for the support of his loved ones. He expressed his appreciation for his family and friends, stating, “I’m doing my best to stay positive during this time and am lucky to have a lot of support from family and friends.” His wife, Serena Pitt also shared a message of love and support in the comments, writing, “You’re so strong and we’re going to get through this together. I love you.”

Amabile’s journey has resonated with many, as he has been candid about his experiences and the uncertainties that come with a health diagnosis.
